Overview

The governed knowledge base your team and your agents both read and write — under the rules you set.

brainattic is Finite Software Systems' own AI-native knowledge base: a governed store of an organisation's knowledge that both people and AI agents can read and write, under the rules the organisation sets. We built it to show how we approach modern, AI-targeted software — and it's available both as a product you can adopt and as a blueprint for what we can build for you.

Under the hood it's a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system: content is chunked into text embeddings, and questions are answered by semantic search over your own material rather than by a model guessing. It is deliberately model-agnostic — not tied to any single AI provider or model, so it can use whichever fits the task, cost and data-residency needs, and swap as the landscape moves.

It speaks MCP, the Model Context Protocol, so AI agents and assistants connect to it as a first-class tool — reading governed knowledge and writing back into it as part of an agentic workflow. That is the real point of the project: it shows how FSS integrates an organisation's work into AI and moves teams toward agent-driven ways of working. Adopt brainattic as it stands, or engage us to design a custom AI solution around your own data and processes.
