In September 2015 Telenor Bulgaria — then the country's market leader, with around 3.8 million subscribers — set out to offer fleet tracking to its corporate customers. Rather than commission a separate product, it came to Finite Software Systems, and we placed our own GPS tracking platform inside Telenor's business portal, where it went to market under the operator's own name as Telenor Autopark.
To a Telenor business customer it simply looked like another part of their telecom account. They signed in the way they always had, and their fleet was there — every vehicle live on a map, the trips and routes each one had driven, and reporting on fleet events and running costs. It wore Telenor's own look and wording throughout, down to the emails and the printed reports, so nothing about it felt bolted on.
The hard part of a partnership like this is that the operator's customers must never see the seam. The sign-in had to be the operator's sign-in, the branding had to be the operator's branding, and anything that went wrong would have been the operator's reputation rather than ours — so the work had to be invisible and it had to be right. FSS delivered it on scope and on schedule, trained Telenor's own operating team, and carried support for its end users long after launch.
